PnutOS Alpha3 Version 0.3.0

Well it's been a while since this documentation was updated!  Sorry about that.
Alpha3 release candidate 4 is now uploaded.  This is a heavily reworked 
release featuring the Equinox Desktop as the default window manager, giving 
RC4 a "Redmond" look and feel.  This release is much more polished and will 
serve as a true building block for further development.

The download is approxamately 250Mb, but do not be fooled by the small(ish) 
size.  Alpha3rc4 comes complete with the Opera web browser, the Siag office 
suite, Swaret, Kswaret, Gftp, mICQ, Dillo, Qt Designer, Gambas, Maelstrom, 
the full compiler suite, and of course, a fully loaded Midnight Commander. :)

Important to mention at this point that although the release is solid, the 
repository is not as of yet. New packages are being added continually.  While 
we take great pains to ensure that all dependencies are met, there are no guarantees
of this at any given moment.  If you run into a situation where (K)Swaret whines 
about an unmet dependency, it may be necessary to uninstall something to restore 
proper function.

Kswaret will update the package list from the Pnut Project server automatically at 
its' startup...if using swaret in command-line mode, remember to do a 
[swaret --update] first.

On a side note, a donate button has been added to the site.  As I'm sure you can 
imagine, a lot of work goes into an endeavor such as this, not to mention the
proverbial "man" wanting money for internet access, utilities, and the like.

Thankfully, we're getting closer to a re-release.  The base, compiler, and pkgtools
have been verified to work.  I'm quite sure that more bugs will be found along the way,
but at least we're making some progress.  At the moment, a modified version of swaret
is in the works.  This will allow us to take advantage of the added benefits of being
a ROOT repository as opposed to a REPOS_ROOT.  The individual packages can be indexed
properly into subfolders and initial testing of this tool has finally concluded.

After a "not-so-bug-free" start on the repository, hopefully the offending packages 
have been corrected.  Included in the corrections are a new GCC Suite in the form of 
a tgz package, a properly configured swaret.conf, and the addition of some library
packages.

Temporarily pulled down the repository for the new Alpha3 base, as I discovered some 
bugs that needed to be addressed.  The initial base.bz was ok, unfortunately the 
compiler section was foo-bar.  After quite a bit of testing, that appears to have 
been resolved. :)  The issue was with the binutils pkg clashing with the compiler 
suite, so the offending code has been removed from the suite.  Also, as of this 
writing, I have packaged the compiler suite as a tgz rather than a bz2.  This 
allows pkgtool to check for any remaining overlap so as not to remove any files 
needed by other packages in the event the suite is removed. (That's the theory 
at least lol)  The new base pkgs repository will be uploaded soon....I just need
 to correct a few things I noticed along the way, such as some more tweaks to 
the pkgtools and MC pkgs.  Sorry for the delay. :)

Finished 1st pass at rebuilding a "bloat-free" base and corresponding packages
for Alpha3.  Uploaded base.bz2 to be tested....fstab and mtab may have to be changed
to get it to work. Hopefully, all the kinks are worked out...let me know otherwise.
Also created a repository to work with the included swaret package manager. Be sure 
to edit /etc/swaret.conf to point to the pkgs folder for Alpha3.

Reinserted root's configurations (dotfiles) & updated /etc/skel.
Disabled fbsplash in rc.M, rc.S, rc.6 ....
Changed liloconfig's dialog backtitles & commented splash append statements.
Began testing of pnutpanel (DSL's control panel) not implemented yet.

This is an experimental iso of PnutOS Alpha3.  It is the first version that is
purely based on aLinux(Tm), and as with previous versions of Pnut, it is also 
.tgz based.  Since this is a prototype, it should not be installed as a standalone 
operating system.  

The prototype is based specifically on aLinux(Tm) version 12.5. All but a few 
packages in this iso are of the .tgz variety, rather than the normal rpm format.
Additionally, the Slackware(Tm) package tools found in 12.5 have been updated.
This not only fixes a security hole in the previous tools, but allows for the 
addition of three packages that were not present: xwmconfig, pkgtool, explodepkg.  

Much work is still to be done.
